Deuteronomy 31:13

13: And that their children, who have not known it, may hear and learn to fear the LORD your God as long as you live in the land which you cross the Jordan to possess.”

Comment:
So,  it is easy to see by the “and” that starts this passage that this verse is a continuation of yesterday’s message.  And it also stands to reason that the children of the “strangers” in our midst would be those “who have not known it.”  The “it” being the fear of the Lord your God.

While it is true, even more in this day and age, that children sometimes know more than their parents, these children did not know the truth.  They too needed to hear about the God who brought Moses and his people into this new land.

Moses had told the people that they were to share the story of their travels and the promise of the land that the Lord gave them, so that the inhabitants of this land would be able to share in the love of the Lord.

This passage reminds me of my obligation to be a light to those around me.  That my job of sharing the many miracles and gifts that the Lord has given me will not only offer His love to the adults around me, but will offer salvation to their children as well.  My willingness to share becomes a legacy that can go from generation to generation.  What a gift we have!!

Lord, remind me of the gift that I have to give to those strangers around me.  That it is a gift that can be passed down from generation to generation and become a legacy for the future.  Amen
