Fear Daily Devotional - February 16

Deuteronomy 28:66

66: Your life shall hang in doubt before you; you shall fear day and night, and have no assurance of life.

Comment:
Yesterday, I commented on how Deuteronomy 28 was a heavy chapter, filled with a description of the blessings and the curses to those who follow or don’t follow the Lord.

Here we have one of the curses.  When we choose to go our own way and not follow after the Lord then we are assured to live a life as described in today’s verse.  Our life will hang in doubt because we have no idea where we are going.  I do not mean the simple daily, where are we going, where do we work, where do we live, where do we eat.  I mean the big picture, where are we going after all this, after we die.  When we don’t have the assurance of living an eternity with the Lord, then we have no assurance of life!

Have you ever been around people like this verse describes?  They fear everything!  Day and night, life and death, today and tomorrow.  So much fear!  And truly that is what we are served up on a plate from every side.  TV, radio, newspaper, internet, fear for everyday, every area of our lives is there for the taking.  I often stand in wonderment of how people can make it in this world without the Lord and the knowledge of an eternity with Him!
