Dangerous combination of medication & dehydration

One of my co-workers came to work this morning feeling poorly and quickly went down hill. She did not have a car so I offered to take her home. She was coughing and this was making her sick to her stomach. I remember some of my kids having these symptoms which was really fortunate because she continued to feel worse and worse on the way home. Since she had felt poorly the last couple of days she hadn't eaten much and was very dehydrated. Just before we left work she had taken some Robitussin. This turned out to be a scary combination that caused her to start hyperventilating while we were driving home. It really scared us both. I was fortunate to remember that one of my children had a similar reaction or I think I would have panicked!!
I am sharing this story, so others will watch the combination of medication and dehydration more closely. It can cause very scary reactions!!

Good girl. Your mother is proud of you! Truly it was very scary and I wouldn't want you or anyone to have it happen to them again! I just watched a Teen Saturday News program the other day and they were talking about caffeine and it's drug/addictive properties and it was really pretty scary.

Love you bunches darling,
Mom

I think this has happened to me recently. I have been trying to make myself drink a big cup of water with every meal, and try to drink more throughout the day. I only allow myself one non water beverage a day in order to try to keep myself hydrated.
